I've been in situations where long anticipated parties cancel on short notice. It is a let down. Like you, I've never been wronged out of advance door money. The drop is still there. The party may have not have been good. But, when trying to distract myself with a movie or dinner with friends instead, I keep thinking it would have been the best ever. Our brains are not always kind to us.
