Cheyenne,
My wife's Milan hospitalization was 8 years ago.

BUT: I, often we, personally traveled throughout Europe and Japan for 3.5 decades from 1985 through 2010: In that time I interacted with counterparts in The U.K., France, Germany, Sweden, The Netherlands and Japan. The talk over dinner often drifted to our Healthcare; from what I could determine, my wife's Milan experience is NOT unusual outside of the U.S.; we actually had personal healthcare experiences beyond Milan, in France, Japan, Austria, and Germany - - each of which confirmed what we found in Milan.

Mentally re-confirming that her 2, $150 Echocardiograms at Ste. Giuseppe's were handled as professionally as the $5,000 one she received last year at her Cardiologist's in Springfield, N.J.

FWIW: Until Biden rolled-back Insulin charges from $hundreds/month to $35, there was NO DEALING with BIG PHARMA; we agree on that.
As for the ACA: 20 million of our fellow Americans AT LEAST have some measure of Healthcare today!
