I'm hoping this thread doesn't go political. The point is wondering why a random new article popped up about the dangers of porn and bdsm. There may have been more than the one I saw on Laura Ingraham's show. Someone must have handed her the script and told her to report on it. I will post a link to the clip below. There has long been a push to call everything sex trafficking. True sex trafficking is horrific and should not be tolerated. But, consensual adults engaging in activities they find erotic? That is no one's business. I do agree with her that sites like Pornhub and Xhamster should be not allowed to display adult content without proof of age. I would be against a driver licenses being required but a credit card with a minimal feel, like one dollar, would keep minors out. She was flat out wrong in saying that porn business profits from selling porn to minors. A person has to be an adult to have a credit card. That was pure ignorance on her part. All video producers in my generation will remember the reign of 2257 terror in the early 2000's. So, seeing this pop up leads to me wondering if we'll see a crack down on consensual adult activity. I also have to wonder what is going through someone's mind when they want to dictate what people should enjoy erotically. Link

I watched the clip. She was on a moral high ground without knowing what she was talking about. It would have been better if she had an adult industry professional on the show. A spokesperson for Kink.com, someone from a reputable agency like LA Direct or anyone from a reputable background would have been beneficial.
What caught my attention is the young woman who described an abusive on her first time out as a model. She described meeting two men that she didn't know at a hotel room. When the camera started rolling she became uncomfortable. It sounded as if they were being too rough with her. When she went to leave they threatened to release the content and track her parents down through the information on her model release form. She went back and finished the shoot. There are creeps out there. I believe she was being truthful. What she doesn't know is that experience is not the standard. A good agent would never send a model to two unknown men with a camera in a hotel room. She made a very bad decision and ended up with the wrong people.
As to this being on a short term agenda, it could be. One of the reasons that I got out of femdom porn is the vulnerability being outed or carted off to jail by those pretending to protect women.
Video Domme for ClubDom, FemDom Empire, Bratty Princess and many other glorious Fem Powered Sites.

I'm willing to admit what most kinky people won't admit. I've seen BDSM porn that has absolutely traumatized me, some of which I saw when I was young as well. Overall, however, I'd say that's about 5 percent of the femdom porn created. 90 percent of it doesn't go nearly far enough, it's just bored women who think the whole thing is ridiculous and they want to get a big, fat check. The other 5 percent is perfect; pushing the boundaries of decency to their absolute limit, but not crossing that line. And yes, Republicans are going to crack down on all sexual behavior, not because Republican politicians don't like BDSM, it's how they spend their free time. Republicans are going to ban it because the rabid Christians who vote Republican want everything except missionary banned. And yes, Democrats have a million problems, one of which is being too tolerant of depraved sexual acts, but by-and-large Democrats aren't going to ban BDSM porn. There are, however, Democrats who crack down on prostitution and in-person Domme sessions. It happened back when I was living in Chicago.

That was my thought exactly. Instead of talking as if adult video producers and websites owners are a monolith, she should have had a well known professional on the show.
I've heard a couple of stories like what they young woman said happened to her over the years. It has been rare though. Poor girl. She learned the hard way about how not to book a shoot for yourself. I doubt those creepos didn't stay in the business very long.
And, yes, being in the adult industry can make people an easy target. In fact, I've heard A LOT more about people being outed than having a problem with a shoot or private session. If someone vindictive in your personal life wants to cause harm, it is an easy target to attempt to cause harm.

How did you come across bdsm porn when you were young? I remember spending the night with a friend or going to a slumber party and as a kid and someone would show us her dad's stash of porn. There was one magazine with a g/s on the cover. It was so weird that we all just giggled. (The irony? lol.) The internet since PornHub (Thieves that they are) and Xhamster changed the accessibility to internet porn. Pornhub actually has the kahunas to sue Texas for banning access to them. There should be no porn of any kind that minors can access.
As an adult, I've been deeply disturbed by some of the Sm porn I've been showed. Insex, which I believe sold out for big bucks and shut down bothered me tremendously. If memory serves, no one was seeing their live shows if they were a minor. They were all femsub and did things like sew a young woman's lips shut and then rip it out. The next week, the same woman would be there with obviously wounded lips. I was at a convention, helping a friend who had a DVD business and they had the booth across from us. I couldn't even look in that direction. I've known women who shot with them. They talked favorably of them and said they shoot with them because they wanted to. The point being, there was some crazy content out there. As creeped out as I may have been, I've no problem with what consenting adults what to engage in, as long as animals and minors are not involved. It is easy enough for me not to look. The credit card merchants have it so tight right now that it is near impossible to film anything close to extreme content. I also don't see luck luster bored women having any lasting stay in selling videos. It is far too competitive. But, some years ago, yes, I can see that being the case.
As far as this being partisan, I can't agree. Attacking the adult industry when it is convenient and with no real knowledge is one of the few things they have in common. I was hoping this post wouldn't get political but can understand that it would it brush going in that direction. As someone who made a living in the business for 30 years, trust me, it is a bipartisan issue. It would be career suicide for a member of either party to stand up for folks with our interests.

I am afraid our better days are in the past. Not too optimistic about the future, here or globally. I did create a thread on twitter, mostly memorabilia about the previous decade which I see as the golden age.

I got into the scene around 1993. It was amazing, especially for a Midwestern who had lived a sheltered life. Trips to NYC and LA were a big WOW. Conventions and fellow Doms, somewhat close, to my studio in Columbus, Ohio were special as well. What a blast. Looking back, the golden years began long before the early 90's and only began to change about 15 years ago. There are still very special events going on and the standard for private studios has definitely raised. It has become expected instead of a few and far between treat. Perhaps, the professional scene has migrated to more of a global scale instead of the really cool local locations.

I was like a kid in a candy shop in the 80's through 90's. I can't complain with my situation now. My Goddess is beyond generous with me. But the days of jumping on the fast train from Boston to the NYC and having so much to choose from, including parties and clubs, that was pure gold.
Just another boy out of Boston seeking to be overpowered by beautiful women.

I'm not addressing the porn aspect, but about in-person sessions with a pro or even lifestyle, a crackdown is quite possible given the current political era we are in. That goes for a wide variety of many other personal activities that have nothing to do with BDSM.

A mistress has a different perspective because by the nature of her work she gets a lot of hands on experience. A guy gets a lot less so most of what he knows is by indirect experience. Besides I was marginal. in my old age I get more sessions than when I was young. So the clips you buy, the subscriptions you make, the forums you participate in are a bigger part of where your impressions come from. My convictions are not based on memory but on a reconstruction based on all the sources I mentioned. This is a process which continues today and is still work in progress. I learned more about UK BDSM in the last few years, and about European in the last. And things seem to converge together. So yes my impression stays, last decade the best. Things could have been as good before, but if they did not leave traces it is like a tree falling in the forest.

I can see that. Our impressions is formed on what our unique experiences. The sad things is that as different as our experiences have been, we are both feel that the golden days are over. I will follow that up with how lucky we were to have them. It was good fortune that I got into both the session and video scene when I did. Couldn't have been luckier.

First of all, thank you for getting this forum up and running! I miss forums in general and I miss Domme forums especially.
A lot to unpack here. I call sex trafficking the part of the sex trade that depends on coercion, threats, blackmail, or outright violence. Basically slavery. Elites have partaken in this through out history in one way or another. I'm thiinking more Epstein Island than porn right here. The girls were paid, but also understood that very powerful people can make others disappear. With the number of only fans sites out there, I doubt it's hard to find volunteers today.
They want to call everything sex trafficking because calling it prostitution does not cause a moral panic today. It is the oldest profession.
Porn (video on demand type) is relatively new. We are still trying to find out the rules we can agree on.
What I see as more of a threat to BDSM material is the complete lack of privacy today. Cell phones & cameras. Snowden's revelations on internet surveilance. No one in power cares what I do. But what if I were to get a job on capital hill? Will my browsing history be used to tell me who to favor?
