I am 100% the former. I guess perhaps I am more of a bondage bottom/sensation player and not truly submissive in the usual way. The idea of being helpless and being "forced" to endure whatever the Mistress chooses is central to BDSM play for me.
To me it's all about the power exchange and being under the control of the Mistress. Punishments or being forced to perform degrading acts while I am securely restrained and helpless serve as a demonstration of that control. Bondage itself (the more elaborate, strict and layered the better) acts as constant reminder of the power dynamic.
