The pros I've met doing foot parties run about 50/50 in having vanilla jobs or going to school. A couple of my friends dom full time and stay incredibly busy. There is no way they would have time for another job. For me, guesting at foot parties has been a fun gig. All I have to do is show up and enjoy, with no long term commitments. Do you see professional domination as something that is transitory or a career that women retire from?

I was a session hound when I was young and single. Most of the ladies I sessioned with back then were in college. As they got their degrees, they drifted away from prodom. Some of them, quietly, still saw a few clients. Life brings change. I visit a few ladies who are somewhere between mid 40's and 50's. They tend to have vanilla jobs but session on the side. It is transitory from my experience. Live in the moment. The moment is always changing.

Just like anyone else, life changes. Graduating college, moving to another city or state for a vanilla job, meeting a significant other or getting married, illness, etc., etc. It happens. I was a regular of a woman who was on one of the bodybuilder wrestler sites, and by training she was a professional dancer (Broadway style, not stripper) and a fitness trainer. She loved kink so much that for more than a decade that was the majority of her income, with a little fitness training on the side. I was a regular of hers for six years, until she reached a certain age, entered a relationship and gracefully retired doing her fitness training fulltime. Another Mistress I still see has revived her vanilla career. She still loves kink but is strictly under the radar. I'm probably one of maybe three subs she sees now. It is fun and extra cash for her, but the priority now is her vanilla business.

Most of my close friends in the pro scene are in it for the long haul. A few of my friends set themselves up for other businesses, such as real estate investments for retirement. But, I have also seen a handful of doms who put themselves through college domming and then move on to mainstream jobs. An interesting question that I have is it pro domming more or less transitory than other occupations. My guess would be not by intention. It is a competitive business. Especially when the economy gets rocky or additional competition pops up, not everyone can make it through.

For me, it was temporary from the beginning. It is how I put myself through college. I wasn't prepared for how much I came to love it. It has been a struggle to let go of it.

I've played with many Dommes over the years that were financing their higher education....often a graduate degree and frequently in something like psychology ....although I did play with a Boston area Domme who was completing a PhD in engineering....(her suspension work was highly professional grin )

I never met her although we exchanged emails a few times. One of my clients, who is contractor, built a few things for her. She had a James Bond type bookcase with a dungeon room hidden behind it, according to my client/friend. Did you have a chance to see it? From all accounts, Janet Spencer was an amazing, one of a kind lady.

Regrettably I did not. Sounds really cool though. When I saw her she had a studio in an industrial type loft in Somerville Mass.
