Curious as to what people here have found to be the best/most effective bondage positions for impact play?

For me, best and simplest has been horizontal on a bondage bed or table type. Spreadeagled either faceup (good for CP on inner thighs combined with NT and CPT) or facedown it gives the Domme easy access and a good angle at which to wield a cane, paddle or strap while maintaining a comfortable posture

I've always found the classic St Andrew's cross awkward, forcing a Domme sometimes to to swing sidearm at a difficult angle.....especially if trying to target the ass or upper thighs. They are a fixture in almost every dungeon or playroom but I think them over rated.

A properly designed spanking bench can also work very well provided it offers appropriate attachment points and forces the sub into a position with his head and shoulders down and his ass up.

While it might seem strange, being relatively comfortable in the bondage is important to me while receiving CP. Otherwise I find discomfort or pain from the position can be distracting and break my focus on staying in the right headspace

Good topic. I like being strapped to a bondage table at down times in long sessions. Extensive bondage, combined with mild stimulation, such as a low does of electricity sends me into a sleep like zone. For intense CP, like being upright, either with my feet flat on the ground and arms spread eagle over head, or upside down in suspension. I'm of fan of the St. Andrews cross either. I never thought of it from the Mistress's swing point, only a place of comfort for myself. But, what you've said makes sense.

I love every position that opens the slave up to me and allows for him/her to be comfortable enough not to be distracted. If I had to choose a favorite, it would in combination with strap on action. The slave would be length wise over a whipping horse with his thighs and ankles secured to each side. His balls would be behind him, in a humbler or also tied. His arms to each side over his head. This opens up not only the availability for strap on but caning and whipping. The ball exposure would be just that. Maybe I'd tease them a bit with the cane or light squeeze of my hand, just enough to remind him of the vulnerability.

Great position. I agree about access being important and love the idea the balls being restrained thus incorporating the unspoken threat of CBT.
