Living in Kentucky, I wasn't expecting people to be surprised or have much of a reaction. I was wrong about that. From the time I walked through the parking garage to arriving at my floor, there were looks. Some were a knowing smile and others a look of panic as if to say, "Can you believe this?" I didn't put it together with the election until my team mates began talking about. It was the same with the patients too. We had to shuffle a few rooms around and suggest our patients not talk about politics. We can't ask incoming patients who they voted for. I wish we could. It would be one more thing to shuffle around on an already busy floor but it would make life easier for everyone. All of this accomplished one thing. The division among the staff disappeared as we have a common goal of keeping everything rolling along without distraction.

My girlfriend works at a mid size veterinary's clinic. Much different that my experience, everyone was happy and singing all day. She said even their clients were all smiles. They even had a few come in wearing MAGA hats.

FB, my girl and I are ignoring. Most of our FB friends are from Chicago. Once glimpse of the melt downs and we decided to take a break. My girl's great aunts called her sobbing, assuming she had voted for Harris. My girl handled it well, comforted her without telling her how she voted and got of the phone. She even sent her flowers and chocolates because she was worried about her elderly aunt's mental health.

What has your post election experience been like? Is anyone else experiencing this craziness?

I'm pretty much retired these days. But, from what I've heard there are people melting down and supervisors offering counseling services. My great niece showed up to work as if it was any other day to find half of her co-workers distraught. This was in a rural town in Ohio. One the ladies was crying that her nine year old daughter couldn't grow up to have an abortion! My niece was bewildered. My good friend and occasional poster here, Tristin, told me that his scene friends are terrified gay and trans people will be rounded up and put in jail. He halfway believes it himself. The family that I grew up with as next door neighbors, who were more like extended family than friends, are up in arms. It broke my heart to see one of them post that he believes Trump voters went to the polls out of "Hatred for others."

The media and liberal branch of the government has been on a mission to convince people that Trump is the second coming of Hitler. So, of course, people are going to be terrified...however irrational that fear is.

It is interesting that so many people in where you work in Kentucky are upset. I don't know what city you are in. I'm guessing Louisville or Lexington. I don't want to infringe on your privacy so I'm not asking. Just trying to visualize what you are experiencing at the hospital. It is lousy there is now one more thing to have to manage in an already challenging field.

It was gutsy for you to move from Chicago to rural Kentucky. I'm happy that it is working out well for you. As for staff and patients in a hospital having post election melt downs, they all need to grow up and deal with it. I wasn't happy when Biden got it. No one in my crew knew it. They'd start to talk about it and I'd shut it down and instruct the job supervisors to do the same. Most of the men who work for me are conservatives. Not all of their wives are. We have an understanding that conversation about it doesn't enter the workspace. I don't want to tell anyone what they can talk about. I also don't want political discussions spilling over onto our clients. We all show up to do a good job and get a paycheck. Other talk can wait until after work hours.

In Trump's first term, we had a big job at a state university. One of my sub contractors takes his own van to the job sites. He had a Trump bumper sticker. Some libtard called the police in a panic that a white work van with a Trump bumper sticker was in their parking lot. Jeez. Can you believe the cops actually showed up?

Since you live in Kentucky now...How about you Kentucky people get rid of Mitch McConnell once and for all.

I cant think of too many politicians who have caused as much damage to this country than that guy...

The people breaking down about Trump in Kentucky are probably McConnell supporters...

In CT. Its different because I always have to be on my toes for Trump haters..Trump lost CT in a landslide of course...So this translates to I am surrounded by enemies...

I'm retired so I can't relate workplace reactions.
Actually, I live in a small town that is about 85% Hispanic (many work the fields) and, since I don't speak Spanish, I can't talk to half of them and politics has never been a topic.
Most political indications I get from this community are from the yard signs displayed, hence my knowledge is pre-election and not reaction to the outcome.
I have not seen one Harris sign but the Trump supporters lavishly decorate their homes with red white and blue Trump signage.
So my impression is that one small community in the Golden Blue State of California is sane and happy with the results.

McConnell is a walking, talking, flashing billboard for term limits. Now that I am voting Republican, the struggle I have is how do I vote for a Democrat regardless of how bad the dinosaur in office is? I don't want to vote for a party that I took a huge leap to walk away from.

You vote for whoever Trump puts in there to primary that Old Bastard McConnell...Unless he croaks first...Which he may...

Unfortunately McConnell is not up for reelection until 2027....

When he will turn about 107 years old....Same with Pelosi who just filed paperwork to run again in 2026 at the young spring chicken age of about 90....

Talk about not letting the younger generations have a shot...

Most of these people only leave Congress in body bags...
