I was also going to post about Israel's position which allows the U.S. to project power and influence in the region...
But I am glad you mentioned it first....
It's called Manifest Destiny and it is NOT a good thing...And it proves my point that American Politicians never cared about the Jews in Israel in the first place....We have always wanted strategic control over the region....
This explains why billions of Arabs hate us...Our government has always used Israelis as pawns....The same with Turkey and South Korea...
We are no different from the Chinese or Russians...
The problem is our government force feeds us from birth that we have to financially/militarily support Israel because the Arabs are the bad guys...
So in essence we created this entire problem in the middle east...We are the real bad guys.

Trump doesn't care about the Jews in Israel either....If anyone on the planet believes in Manifest Destiny then it is Trump big time...
From day one he has been trying to aquire Greenland, Canada and the Gaza Strip....That is Manifest Destiny in a nutshell...
